Chemical waste dumping in residential colonies at LB Nagar

Chemical wastes are being dumped in residential areas and in between the apartments In Hyderabad. Local residents anguished on the control authorities for not taking any action against the companies that are responsible for the dumps.

In Hyderabad, chemical wastes are dumped not only in the Industrial Areas but also in the city out skirts. Dump seen in Sahara Estates in LB Nagar is the best example for this. Companies are going against the rules and dumping the wastes in residential areas secretly.

Residents are getting various diseases because of the smoke and vapours evolved from the wastes. Srinivas, one of the residents of Sahara Estate said that some unidentified people are coming and leaving the dumps there every day. Some chemicals are released from the wastes in the form of fumes which caused eyes burn to his wife and also a friend of him got vomiting.

Local people say that company people are dumping wastes in the vacant lands and they did the same earlier also.

One of the local people said that smoke is evolving from the dumps in the morning when dew drops fall on them and no action has been taken on the companies though the officials of GHMC visited the place several times. He mentioned that people are moving to distant places along with their families and also said that departments in efficiency and reluctance in taking action in this regard is responsible for the deaths.

Pollution Control Board Officials are simply removing the tins and drums from there but not taking necessary measures to get a permanent solution. Locals request the Government to take special action on the permanent removal of the dumps.
